At 10:00 a.m. last Friday at Beulah Camp, it was pouring out, torrential rain.
For over a hundred years, the ordained ministers of the Atlantic District have lined up outside the Tabernacle at Beulah camp on Friday morning to march in and honour those who were being newly ordained. And in those hundred years, nobody could remember it ever raining, ever.
We would comment on it as we stood in line. Some years, it rained early in the morning or later in the afternoon, but not once did it rain while we waited to march into the Tabernacle.
Last November, district leadership decided to move the ordination service from Friday morning to Thursday evening for a variety of reasons. On Thursday night, as we lined up, the weather was glorious, and on Friday morning it poured.
Where am I going with this? I have no idea.
Would I be so vain as to think that the God of the universe has influenced the weather over Browns Flat, New Brunswick, for one hour each July? Probably not.
However, in Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that not a single sparrow falls to the ground without our Father’s knowledge, and then He reminds us we are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
”Have a great week, and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
