Last week I got my smile back.  And that had nothing to do with my emotions and everything to do with my teeth.

Back in March, I ran my tongue over my front teeth, and it seemed like half of one of my front teeth was missing. I rushed to a mirror, only to discover that my tooth had a small chip out of it.  And by small, I mean Angela didn’t notice until I mentioned it. But every time I looked in the mirror, I noticed it. It wasn’t my smile.

So last week, I had it fixed. And I know, some of you are silently singing Carly Simon’s song “You’re So Vain” as you are reading this.

Indeed. But we are all vain about something. With me, it happens to be my teeth. Obviously not vain enough to stop drinking coffee.

What is there that you would fix about yourself if you could?

In the New Testament, Paul reminds us to make the teaching about God and Jesus attractive in every way.

Perhaps it’s time we looked in the mirror to see if there are chips in our Christian witness that need to be addressed.

Maybe it’s time to fix some chips and cracks and get our spiritual smile back.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
