The other day Angela and I were on our way to an appointment when an SUV pulled out of an apartment driveway and cut us off. And then to add insult to injury, they made a sharp right turn without signalling.

Now I understand that as a Halifax driver, neither one of those events should have surprised me. However, the SUV had a Christian fish sticker on the tailgate.

I remember years ago hearing a friend of mine, CK Chitty, remind us that as Christians we not only have an obligation to walk the walk and talk the talk, but we also have to be careful that we are walking the talk and talking the walk as well. Perhaps we need to add driving in CK’s words.

I have no problem with people proclaiming their faith publicly, but seriously, if you are going to proudly proclaim you follow Jesus, then let your driving habits reflect your sticker. A little judgy and cranky I know, but I’m getting old.

In his first letter, John told the early believers to walk as Jesus walked. Today, he’d probably add that we should drive as Jesus would drive. And at the very least, that would be courteous.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
