The other day we were heading to Moncton, and it happened again. I had set our cruise control, at 110ish, and as we were driving along in traffic, I looked down and realized we were only going 88 kph.

If you have adaptive cruise control on your car then you know exactly what happened. Adaptive cruise is a safety feature on most new vehicles that automatically slows down, to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. It does that very well, however, if you aren’t paying attention to your speed, as the car in front of you slows down, you end up driving much slower than you planned. That isn’t always a bad thing, but it can be a little frustrating.

It seems regarding today’s culture, some Christians and Churches have engaged a type of adaptive cruise control regarding society. Instead of being different and distinct, we have begun to adapt, so at times it’s difficult to see any difference between the church and the culture that surrounds us.

Maybe we need to be reminded of Paul’s words when he warned the early Christians in Rome not to copy the behaviour and customs of the pagan culture they were surrounded by.

Have a great week, and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
