Last week I was listening to the radio, and they played a TV ad from the 1970s.
As I listened, I could almost see it in my mind’s eye.
If you are old enough you probably remember the ad for the K-Tel Record Selector. It was promoted as having a space-age design, finger-tip control and a mind of its own. It was packaged in an attractively finished gift box, and of course, to add even more credence to its claims, the ad ended with the words, “As advertised on TV.” Which seemed a little redundant, seeing that we were watching it on TV.
Our family had one, next to our hi-fi in the rec room in our basement. It helped me select my KISS records instead of one of Dad’s Jim Reeves records.
The record selector was advertised as only costing $3.99 plus shipping. If you are lucky enough to have an unopened one kicking around, they sell on eBay for more than a hundred dollars, plus shipping, if we had only known.
Like the K-Tel Record Selector, many other things from the past are now irrelevant. However, we are reminded in Hebrews 13:8 that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
