I was disappointed twice this week. Not a lot disappointed, just a little disappointed. The first disappointment was with a slice of pecan pie on Christmas Day, and the second disappointment was with a movie I went to on Boxing Day.

Now, to be truthful, there was nothing wrong with the pecan pie; it was a perfectly good pie with plenty of pecans. And the movie was a perfectly good movie, with good actors and a good storyline.

So, why was I disappointed?  Because I expected more, and that was my fault, not the fault of the pie or the movie.  I had been looking forward to both, and my expectations surpassed my experience.
How often does that happen in your life?  You are left disappointed, not by the experience but because the experience didn’t live up to your expectations.

I’m not recommending that you dial down your expectations. They are part of the fun. But take the time to enjoy the experience.

The Bible promises us in Ephesians 3:20 that God is able to do more in our lives than we can even imagine.  And not just a little bit more, but immeasurably more. And I’m really looking forward to that because I have a pretty wild imagination.

Have a great week, and remember: To see what is possible, you’ll have to attempt the impossible.
