To change or not to change, with apologies to the Bard, that is the question.

As the end of Daylight Saving Time quickly approaches, it was just announced that Manitoba has joined Alberta and British Columbia in staying on Daylight Saving Time. Neither falling back nor springing ahead. That puts them in line, practically, with the NWT, which stays on DST, and philosophically with Saskatchewan and the Yukon, which both stay on Standard Time.

To confuse matters more, recent findings in the Canadian Medical Association Journal suggest that if we are going to stay with one time, that permanent Standard Time would be a healthier choice than permanent Daylight Saving Time. So, the question isn’t just to change or not to change, but what to change to.

Regardless of whether we change or don’t change, the reality is that we still get 24 hours in our days, and we get the same amount of daylight in our days. The rest is just details.

Long before there was either Standard Time or Daylight Saving Time, Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus telling them to redeem their time, and to use the 24 hours they were given in each day wisely, loving God and loving others. And that still applies.

Have a great week, and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
