So, what are consuming your thoughts and conversations these days?
Is it what’s happening on this side of the border with the upcoming federal election? Or is it about what’s happening, with the goat rodeo, on the other side of the border?
Both topics seem to be getting an equal amount of time lately. You have some say over one of those things, but the other is outside of your control.
What I’ve noticed about both topics of conversation is the fatalistic view many people take.
If you talk about tariffs, trade wars, and travel advisories with our Southern neighbours, you hear people say it’s bound to stay the same for at least four years. Others wonder if it will ever return to the way it was pre-2025.
When the conversation revolves around the pending election, it doesn’t take long into the conversation before someone remarks, “It doesn’t matter how you vote; they are all alike.”
No, they are not alike. Before you cynically write off our political system and politicians, watch the evening news and see what it’s like in the majority of the world. Then, take the time to thank God for what we have and get out and vote on Monday.
Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
