I was reading a novel the other day—I know, what a surprise—when a question made me pause. The question was this: If we only had a limited number of sunrises and sunsets to marvel at, would we treat them differently?
If the beauty of sunrises and sunsets weren’t everyday occurrences, would we appreciate them more?
This past year, there have been several nights when the Aurora Borealis were visible, and people stayed up to watch the evening skies come alive with colour. People were posting pictures and sharing their experiences. Why? Because a chance to see the Aurora Borealis is a rarity.
What if you knew the next sunrise might be the last one you would experience. Would you make the effort get up to see it?
The reality is that the number of sunrises and sunsets we will experience is finite. Tomorrow’s might be our last, for any number of reasons.
But, more important than sunrises, sunsets or the Northern Lights, are those things that make our relationships special. The number of hugs and I love yous in life are finite as well, and we need to cherish each of them instead of treating them as ordinary things to be expected.
Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
