Angela and I go to the pool every (and by every, I mean most or possibly some) Friday mornings, and this past Friday, I realized people were at the pool for a variety of reasons.
Some come for exercise. They are committed to the process and focused on what they are doing.
Others come to swim. They are getting exercise, but that isn’t their primary reason for being there.
And others, it seems, just come to get wet and talk with their friends. Which, while a valid reason, seems to annoy those who are there for the other two reasons. If you want to talk, fine. Just don’t do it in my lane.
But why ever they are there, they are there, and for the most part, that’s better than not being there.
And it’s a lot like church attendance. There are those who come, and their main purpose is to grow spiritually.
Others come because they enjoy the worship and being with like-minded people. They grow spiritually in the process, but that isn’t their primary reason for being there.
And others come because church is where their friends are.
But why ever they are there, they are there, and for the most part, that’s better than not being there.
Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
