Well, I’m in South Africa for the weekend. Literally for the weekend.
Earlier this week, I flew to Johannesburg to spend three days in business meetings and then to fly home. It might not sound like fun to you, but for me, it is an awesome privilege and responsibility.
I am here representing the Wesleyan Church of Canada at the 2025 International Conference of the Wesleyan Church. The business that is decided here will help shape our denomination in the years ahead.
Of course, I’m not the only Canadian representative, I’m one of two.
Delegates and observers from around the world have gathered for worship, workshops, and, of course, business meetings.
I’m taking this responsibility seriously as a Canadian. I’ll wear my Team Canada jersey for the evening’s national garb event and share Dare maple cookies during breaks.
The highlight of the trip was being with brothers and sisters from around the world, many of whom I know from my work with Global Partners and some I will be meeting for the first time.
And while we may not share skin colour, language or culture, we all share the same Saviour, and that will be worth the 60 hours of travel time.
Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
