It seems all we have been hearing about on the news over the past two weeks has concerned the results of the recent US Federal election.
I was surprised by the number of Canadians caught up in the election fever. I’m not sure there will be very many Americans interested in the next Canadian Federal election. For that matter, with our poor voter turnout, it seems that many Canadians aren’t that interested in our elections either.
But back to the US election. On November 6th I heard some Canadians who were devastated with the results of the election and others who were delighted. And that’s fair. That’s how it works, and that’s what democracy is all about.
What I found disturbing were the nasty hateful comments posted by Christians on both sides of the political spectrum.
And I’m not sure how they reconcile their attitudes and their language with the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:22 “But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.”?
Maybe they can, but I can’t.
Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
A great word Denn ,especially the scripture ,we need to watch our words .
