This past Saturday, I served as a tour guide for a busload of tourists from the United States. It was a favour for a friend of mine. It’s a long story. And it’s a bonus when you actually enjoy doing a favour for someone.

In order to prepare for the tour, I did a fair bit of cramming on things like Peggy’s Cove, the Halifax Explosion and the Titanic gravesites. And I was amazed at some of the things I learned.

I have lived in Halifax for the past thirty years and have spent more than half my life in Nova Scotia, so I figured I had a pretty good handle on giving the tour. I was surprised at what I didn’t know.

Did you know that the CSS Acadia at the Halifax waterfront is the only surviving ship from the Halifax Explosion? I didn’t.

And so, I wondered if that might be the case with our Christian experience. We’ve lived it so long that we think we have a pretty good handle on it, but what would happen if we were required to give a tour of our Christian life to folks we didn’t know?

Maybe a little cramming would help us discover things we never knew before.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
