Weird weather we are having, don’t you think? And every time we get another killer hurricane, earthquake, tsunami __________ (insert your favourite natural disaster here), people ask, “Do you think this might be leading toward the end of the world?” The answer, of course, is Yes. But then again, the rising price of tomatoes, the trend in Hollywood of remaking bad movies and this morning’s traffic are leading to the end of the world as well. Just as 11 p.m. leads to the end of the day, so does 12:01 a.m.

In the same way that the end of today will signify the beginning of tomorrow, the end of this world will signify the beginning of a new world. And while we can’t know if tomorrow will be better or worse than today or just the same, we know that for believers, the end of this world will signify a much better existence, and for non-believers, the end of this world will signify a much worse existence.

And I realized the other day that if the end comes in the next ten years, there will be a few of you at Cornerstone who are going to have a really hefty mortgage to deal with.

Have a great week, and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
