Imagine if you were renovating your home, and your budget was $3,300.00 per square foot. That would translate into a little under three-quarters of a million dollars to spend renovating my 200 sq foot office, or 8 million for a 2500 sq foot home.
The National Capital Commission has recently released a report saying that in order to complete the deferred maintenance issues on 24 Sussex Drive in Ottawa, it will cost $36.6 million dollars, and that doesn’t take into account bringing it up to code. 24 Sussex Drive is, of course, the address for the official residence of our Prime Minister.

Now, I personally think that the Prime Minister should have a nice place to live, and if they are living in an 11,000-foot mansion, they ought to be willing to have folks over once in a while.  But seriously, $3,300.00 a square foot to renovate seems a little excessive.

I don’t know if it’s contractors taking advantage of the public purse or the government feeling that the purse is bottomless.  Sometimes, I think people need to be reminded that the public purse is actually our purse.
I hope at Cornerstone that we will always be transparent and responsible as we steward God’s money for the good of the Kingdom.

Have a great week, and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
