Bizarre; that was the first thought that came to mind when I read a news story about a man in Japan who had been discovered dead on the street.  The body, believed to be that of a homeless man in his late 60s or early 70s, was found in front of a popular department store in the crowded downtown area of Osaka, Japan’s second-largest city.

Now that in itself is a tragedy, nobody should have to die homeless on a street, the bizarre part though was the body was partially decomposed and authorities suspect that it had been in that location for two months.  Two months! How wrong is that?   The deputy chief of the local police precinct reported the corner is among the busiest in the city, with about one million people passing through the area each day.  What were people thinking that he was a really sound sleeper?

I wonder how many dead people we encounter every day?  Not physically dead but spiritually dead. The shoppers of Osaka could only have reported the man’s death, they couldn’t offer him life. If you are a Christian then you know where those who are spiritually dead can find new life, if only you’ll stop and let them know.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is possible, you’ll have to attempt the impossible.
