Do you ever find yourself listening to voices at 3 o’clock in the morning?

No, not your neighbours, or even others in your home. I’m talking about the voices inside your head. Before you call the men in the white jackets, bear with me. I am always amazed at what I learn at three o’clock in the morning, lying awake in the dark.

It’s during those times that I have suddenly realized that things were missing in a building program. I have composed emails, and I have received clarity regarding issues I’ve struggled with. I’ve come up with sermon ideas, and there have been times that I suddenly realized mistakes I have made that need correcting.

Not all the thoughts that I think at 3 a.m. bear up to the scrutiny of the light of day, I call those my vampire ideas, but many do.

The other night, as I was lying awake at 3:00 a.m., I pondered why these thoughts often come to me in the wee hours of the morning, and God reminded me of his words in Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God”.

And I realized that maybe that was the only time God could get my attention.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
