I don’t know what I find more bizarre…. that a man would duct tape a banana to a wall and call it art or that someone would pay $120,000.00 US for a banana duct taped to a wall or that someone would come along, take the banana off the wall and eat it?

The “art” created by conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan, was on display and eaten in Miami.

I would like to think if I owned a $120,000.00 banana I would have taken better care of it.

It’s all a bit surreal.  The man who ate the banana, David Datuna is unrepentant, “In this case, it’s not like I ate art,” Datuna said. “Like the gallery said, it’s not a banana, it’s a concept. And I just ate the concept of the artist. So I think this is cool, this is fun, this is what art is about.”

Tell that to the guy who paid $120,000.00 for the banana.

I wonder if they will charge Datuna with theft or destroying a piece of art?  If he bought them another banana, would that make it right?

We live in a strange world where a duct-taped banana is a bigger news item than the fourteen Christians executed during a church service in Burkina Faso on December 1st.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is possible, you’ll have to attempt the impossible.
