I’m not a big baseball fan. Actually, I’m not a baseball fan at all. I’ve only watched two professional baseball games in my entire life. And they were both in Brisbane, and the tickets were free. But the story from last week was all over the news, and if you are a Blue Jays fan, it was heartbreaking.
It was game two of the American League wild-card series, the Jays were down one game, but game two looked different. The Jays were playing at home, and at the bottom of the sixth, they were ahead 8-1, and then they weren’t. When the smoke cleared and everyone had left the Rogers Centre, the Jays had lost 10-9.
There were all kinds of theories about what had happened, but the overwhelming consensus was that the Jays had choked.
They should have listened to the wisdom of Yogi Berra, who said, “It ain’t over ’til it’s over.”
Our life lesson for our personal, professional, and, most importantly, our spiritual life is that it isn’t how we start that’s important, but how we finish.
At the end of our story, we won’t be remembered as much for how we started but for how we finished. Let’s commit to finishing well.
Have a great week, and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
