A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about not taking health advice from centenarians. Siri must have read the Penn, because last week I had a suggestion in my news feed about an article entitled “The Longest Living People in the World All Abide by the ‘Power 9’ Rule.”
Apparently, there are areas in the world where people are ten times more likely to live to 100. Well, it didn’t take long for medical researchers, demographers, epidemiologists, and anthropologists to dig a little deeper to find some of the common denominators.
Part of the research ended up in a book entitled, “The Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who’ve Lived the Longest”, written by National Geographic’s Dan Buettner.
The first three
The first few points were what you’d expect: eat right, get regular exercise, blah, blah, blah.
But it was number eight that intrigued me. It said, and I quote, “Research shows that attending a faith-based service four times per month could add four to 14 years to your life expectancy.”
Four times a month, could add four to fourteen years to your life!
So, if you haven’t got time to come to church for the spiritual benefits, you should try to make time for the longevity benefits.
