I was thankful to read the remarks Prime Minister Carney posted on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. He acknowledged Good Friday as a holy day of sacrifice, redemption, and faith, and Easter Sunday as a day to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
I would suspect the majority of Canadians have no real understanding of why they had a long weekend. For most of them, the reason was wrapped up in Easter eggs and Easter ham.
Now, I enjoy a good Easter dinner, and it’s fun to watch the grandkids hunt for eggs, even the teenagers, but neither of those would rate as my favourite part of Easter.
This past Sunday, we came together as the Cornerstone Family. We took time to reflect on the events of Good Friday, and then we celebrated the resurrection on Easter Sunday. That was my favourite part of Easter.
Regardless of your political views, the Prime Minister’s words were a great reminder of the why of Easter, and I would suspect that his words were read by more people outside of churches on those two days than there were people inside of churches.
And that is a good thing, because the message of the resurrection is for everybody.
Have a great week, and remember: to see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
