And so, it begins! Apparently, they have allowed Michael Bublé and Mariah Carey to come out of hibernation, and now the season of Christmas music and Christmas specials is upon us.
From my favourite radio stations to my favourite coffee shops, I am hearing the good news of Jesus as they begin their annual tradition of playing Christmas music.
I find it intriguing that a society so desperate to distance themselves from the teachings of Jesus Christ, or even the mention of his name for eleven months of the year, is so willing and eager to celebrate the birth of the very same Jesus Christ, even if only for a month.
Over the next three weeks, mixed in with the songs of Santa and flying reindeer, we will hear secular artists sing about the virgin birth and how God Himself came to our world.
But regardless of the reasons for the world’s willingness to celebrate, I will gladly join in the celebration of Jesus’ birth.
My prayer is that some of those who are humming along to the carols will stop and listen to the words, and this Christmas will come to know personally the One whose birth they may unwittingly and maybe unwillingly be celebrating.
Have a great week and remember: To see what is possible, you’ll have to attempt the impossible.
