The other day, as I was driving along, the radio played one of my favourite songs, and then surprise, surprise, the next one was a song from my teen years. When the third song played, I was marvelling at what great, and somewhat bizarre, taste the radio station had.

They played a Jim Croce hit, the theme from the movie Grease and a Statler Brothers number.

And then it dawned on me. Apple CarPlay had changed from playing music from the radio to playing music from my phone.

I was enjoying the selection because they were songs I had chosen to play.

It was relatively harmless; it was just music after all. But how often do we get in that loop as we peruse the news and social media? We forget the algorithms are feeding us what we want to hear. We very seldom hear the other side of the story.

The reason I chose the radio station I listen to is, it exposes me to genres and artists that I might never have heard otherwise.

It’s probably wise for us to approach our news feeds the same way. If we only hear what we believe, we will always believe what we hear. And that may not be the safest route to take.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is possible, you’ll have to attempt the impossible.
