I woke up this past Sunday morning, and after checking my news feed, I felt bad. And then I felt bad about feeling bad.

Like many of you, I felt bad because the Jays didn’t win the pennant. But then I felt bad about feeling bad because I’m not a Jays fan. I’ve never really supported the team. I have followed their games throughout the series, and by follow, I mean I checked the scores the morning after the games were over.

I know nothing about the Jays. I can’t name a single player, coach or even a ball boy. Is ball boy even a thing anymore?

My grief over their loss reminded me of something else, being present when two of our churches had to close because of declining numbers and giving, and I had people tell me how bad they felt about the churches closing

But the reality is, they didn’t support the church with their finances or with their attendance.

There was nothing I could have done to help the Jays win the pennant.

But for many of those who expressed grief and sorrow in the closing of a local church, there were several things they could have done. But they didn’t.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is possible, you’ll have to attempt the impossible.
