I didn’t think it would happen, but it did. And it was tough!
I had to ask for help. I was pretty sure I could do it by myself, but apparently, I couldn’t. I tried. I really wanted to do it myself. But alas, it was not to be.
Last week, I was installing new eight-foot roller blinds on the deck of our cottage. I had to put up a mounting plate and then attach the blinds to the clips that came with them. And apparently, I needed to be on both sides of the blind at the same time, on two different ladders. And it just wasn’t working. So, I asked my neighbour for a hand, and within a few minutes, working together, we had it done.
Why is it so hard to ask for help? Help from others and help from God.
When our daughter was a toddler, her favourite phrase was “I do it myself.” But I’m not a toddler and it’s not nearly as cute when I say it.
The Bible reminds us in Ecclesiastes 4:9 “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.”
It was another reminder that we were never intended to climb the ladder alone.
Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
