So, do you have plans for Thanksgiving?  Perhaps travelling to be with family or having family travel to be with you.  Regardless of your plans, health authorities are cautioning us to be careful this year.  We are told that we should limit the size of family gatherings, and of course we need to maintain the sanctity of the Atlantic Bubble.

In 2020 it might seem that Thanksgiving will be a bit of an oxymoron, but the reality is that we don’t have to look very far to find things in our lives to be thankful for.

2000 years ago, in a world very different from ours, Paul commanded the early Christ-followers to give thanks in all circumstances.  And for two thousand years, many Christians have done exactly that.

Through plagues and persecution, two world wars and countless depressions and recessions, Christians have given thanks to God.

So, this week, in the midst of COVID, can we take time to thank God?
Over a hundred years ago, hymn-writer Johnson Oatman wrote these words,
“When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.”
It was good advice then and is good advice now.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is possible, you’ll have to attempt the impossible.
