It was a tragedy.  Fifty people killed because of the faith they practiced.  You would think that would be a newsworthy event.  Apparently not.  You’d think maybe such actions would be condemned by political and religious leaders.  Again, apparently not.  The silence around the event has been deafening.

And you are thinking: Oh no Denn, there was plenty of news coverage about the shooting at the mosque in Christchurch. It was condemned by leaders around the world.  And as tragic as the shooting in New Zealand was that isn’t what I am writing about.

Fulani Muslim militia killed fifty Christians in Nigeria last week. Which brings the total Christians killed in Nigeria to one hundred and twenty in three weeks. You haven’t heard about that? That’s not surprising, not one of the major media outlets has covered the story.

Is it because Christians being killed by Muslims is so commonplace that it really isn’t newsworthy?  Or maybe it doesn’t count because it didn’t happen in what we think of as a Western Country.

The New Zealand shooting was a horrific hate crime, a crime that needs to be reported and denounced.  But let’s not forget Christan victims in faraway places like Nigeria.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
