This year will mark the 24th year that I’ve preached the Christmas story at Cornerstone.  And every year the challenge is; how to make the same old story new and fresh.  Well, the reality is, the story doesn’t have to become new and fresh, the story is fine, it’s just the presentation that has to change.

The Christmas story has all the elements that are needed for a great story, and that never changes.  There is romance, a sense of betrayal, mystery and celebration.  There are angels, jerks, villains and heroes, it is a great story.

Each year as I begin to pray and work on my Christmas messages it seems that I always discover something new.  And that’s the way it should be in our relationship with Jesus, each day should be filled with new discoveries and adventures.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever and it’s the same with the story of his birth.  But just because it never changes doesn’t mean that it has to become boring and stale.

My prayer is that this year, you will discover something new in the Christmas story, something that will make it as fresh and exciting as the first time you heard it.

Have a great week and remember: To see what is really possible, you will have to attempt the impossible.
